Area of Greatest Need
- Unrestricted Fund - Meets the most urgent needs
as they are identified by the Foundations of Saint Thomas Health Board
and Saint Thomas Midtown Hospital’s administration.
Cancer & Cardiac Support
- Camp Bluebird Fund. Supports camp retreats
where adult cancer patients are provided with education, support and
encouragement in living life after a cancer diagnosis.
- Cancer Center Fund. Benefits Saint Thomas Midtown Hospital’s Cancer Center by supporting cancer patients and their families.
- Healing Through Motion Fund. The positive outcomes
of rehab and exercise programs for breast cancer survivors are just
starting to be noticed. All too often, the only form of therapy
available to these patients consists of a few quick instructions after
surgery. Insurance companies are often reluctant to reimburse for
rehabilitation services unless a significant problem occurs, such as
frozen shoulder from inactivity. The Healing Through Motion program
provides exercise and wellness education and support for breast cancer
survivors in all phases of recovery.
- Heart Center/Cardiac Rehab Fund. Benefits the Heart Center and its patients.
- Continuing Medical Education Fund. Supports a
series of continuing education seminars and lectures for all levels of
health care professionals from throughout Tennessee.
- ER Education Fund. Gifts to this fund provide
tuition assistance to Saint Thomas Midtown Hospital Emergency Room
employees who otherwise could not afford further study. This enables
employees to realize their educational goals and positively affects the
quality of the Saint Thomas Midtown Hospital ER.
- George Duncan Endowment Fund. Gifts to this fund go
toward nursing education for Saint Thomas Midtown Hospital employees
attending Belmont University School of Nursing.
- Hardin-Tudor Education Fund. Caring families and
friends have contributed to this fund, which provides resources for
Saint Thomas Midtown Hospital employees to pursue higher education
degrees. This enables Saint Thomas Midtown Hospital to attract the best
and the brightest, and encourages their interest in growing within the
health care field.
- Addie Hamilton Education Fund. This fund was
established by Addie Hamilton, a long-time Saint Thomas Midtown Hospital
employee, to provide educational opportunities to Saint Thomas Midtown
Hospital employees and volunteers who are furthering their education.
- Medical Library Fund. Gifts to this fund support
the Saint Thomas Midtown Hospital Medical Library. The library is a
vital part of the hospital because it provides doctors, nurses, medical
students, families and friends the opportunity to research issues
regarding the latest in health care for those we serve. Our Reference
Library contains periodicals and journals, as well as computers to use
for Internet research. The library is constantly responding to changes
in technology to ensure it provides the best research tools available.
- Orthopedic Education Fund. Gifts to this fund
support the orthopedic department in continuing education for nurses,
medical mission and patient assistance with medical equipment.
- Sandra G. Powell Scholarship Endowment Fund. Gifts
to this fund help the Foundation provide educational opportunities to
nursing students who distinguish themselves academically. Preference is
given to Associates attending Belmont University, or another Saint
Thomas Midtown program.
Women and Children
- McKade & Cooper Oakley Special Care Nursery (NICU) Fund.
Directly benefits the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at Saint
Thomas Midtown Hospital by purchasing life-saving equipment and
assisting families in their time of need.
- Mandy Moore Fund. Assists families of infants in the Beaman Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU).
- Women’s and Children’s Health Fund. A gift to this
fund helps us give more than 6,500 newborns each year the opportunity to
be welcomed by their families and friends in a warm, loving and healthy
environment in our Women’s Center. Also assists with the needs of our
Neonatal Intensive Care Unit with extraordinary service to at-risk
newborns. More than 25,000 mammograms, breast cancer treatment,
education programs and annual follow-up are made possible by your gift
People and Families in Need
- FACE Forward Fund. One in 700 children born
have a facial abnormality that affects self-esteem or functional
ability. Often children with such abnormalities are singled out simply
because of their appearance. Sometimes what is different about them is a
birth defect that has never been corrected or is caused by scarring
from an accident or injury. The FACE Forward Fund seeks to provide
corrective surgery for children living in Tennessee, especially middle
Tennessee, who are unable to access or afford a cure on their own. The
fund’s goal is to provide children, infants to young adults, with access
to consultation, surgical correction and follow-up services to correct
facial or other seen abnormalities to improve their psychosocial
- Healing Outreach Fund. Gifts to this fund assist
both needy patients and their families. Sometimes newly discharged
patients need assistance with transportation, medication or equipment.
This fund also assists out-of-town relatives visiting loved ones at
Saint Thomas Midtown Hospital by providing affordable overnight
accommodations. Money from this fund has also been used to help parents
travel with their sick children who need treatment in another city.
- Medical Missions Fund. Supports employees of Saint
Thomas Midtown Hospital participating in medical mission work either
domestically or internationally.
- Renewing Hope Fund. Supports victims of disaster both domestically and internationally.
- Sr. Juliana Associate Financial Assistance Fund. Directly benefits Saint Thomas Health associatees by assisting with their spiritual, emotional and
financial needs in times of crisis. Associates often contribute to this
fund to assist colleagues in times of emotional and financial distress. "I

generosity allowed Vicki and me to be together during her final days,
