Total joint replacement surgeries in Middle Tennessee have increased by 23 percent during the last five years, and projections indicate that they will continue to increase another 18 percent over during the five years. To meet this need, our $25 million investment on the Saint Thomas Midtown campus has created Saint Thomas Joint Replacement Institute, the premier joint replacement program in Middle Tennessee.

Final Construction Update: August, 2015

On August 27, 2015, Saint Thomas held a
grand opening/ribbon cutting ceremony of the newly renovated eighh floor at Saint Thomas Midtown Hospital, which houses the completed downtown facility for Saint Thomas Joint Replacement Center. The $25 million renovation project features eight dedicated operating rooms that are larger and more appropriate for advanced total joint replacement procedures, leading to the best outcomes for patients.   The facility also includes dedicated pre-op and recovery units as well as in-patient nursing units.   The renovated 94,000 square feet of space is a state-of-the-art facility as the best surgeons from a multitude of practices in middle Tennessee will practice under one roof.

Although the extensive renovation is at Saint Thomas Midtown, the Institute spans beyond the four walls.  Saint Thomas West, Rutherford, and the Hospital for Specialty Surgery are included under the Saint Thomas Joint Replacement Institute umbrella.

It’s a full schedule of joint replacement surgeries on day one, which is Monday, August 31, 2015.
