How to Prepare for your visit to the EMU
- Patients should bathe/shower and shampoo hair and not apply any conditioner, gels, mousse, or hair spray following shampooing of the hair. Patients should bring loose fitting clothing to wear during their stay but tops should be button down not pull over. It is also recommended to bring extra clothing to change into. Patients are encouraged to bring personal care items from home. All medications you are currently taking should be brought with you to the hospital.
- If you require CPAP or BIPAP please plan on bringing you equipment from home. Extra care will be required for placement and removal of the masks. A release and liability form will need to be signed prior to using your equipment.
- It is highly advised to arrange for a family member or friend to stay with you during your stay in the EMU. There is a television in your room and patients should also bring games, books, and crafts to help pass the time.
