The Accredited Chest Pain Center Model is an operational process for the care of acute coronary syndrome (ACS) patients. It begins when a patient activates EMS, continues through patient discharge, and involves the entire facility. The Chest Pain Center (CPC) integrates an inter-departmental team working toward one common goal – to effectively and efficiently improve processes to assess, diagnose, and treat ACS.

The Saint Thomas Chest Pain Network has extended the model to include different size facilities working together to provide the most appropriate treatment closest to home. The model allows quick, seamless transfer into a tertiary facility when more specialized care is required.

The Chest Pain Network shares best practices for treating chest pain among EMS and hospital providers across Tennessee and Southern Kentucky.
